Michelin book for 2009 "The upscale and calming ambience, with fresh flowers, deep, sultry colors, and embroidered silk panels, is an oasis in this ever-changing and bustling area of Central Harlem. Art hangs on the walls paying homage to its African-American roots, with jazzy images evoking Josephine Baker. The small room has gold and brown lacquered tables, and high back leather banquettes. A long communal table is used to maximize seating during live performances Tuesday through Saturday nights, and during the Gospel brunch on Sundays. Baby back ribs and Maryland crab cakes are served, as well as Caribbean favorites: spicy jerk chicken, fried green plantains, and curry goat with red beans and rice. Rummy rum cake for dessert doubles as a decadent after dinner drink."
